SciCommCamp and Greenbar Distillery present:
Join SciCommCamp for Science & Spirits, an exciting new speaker series at Greenbar Distillery's downtown Los Angeles tasting room.
On November 15, 2018 we’ll hear from Beth Pratt.
As California Director for the National Wildlife Federation, Beth works to protect the state’s remarkable wildlife–from mountain lions in Los Angeles, to porpoises in San Francisco Bay, to pika in the Sierra Nevada. Her interest in wildlife began at an early age. She would collect frogs in a bucket, name them all George, watch them in a special frog habitat she constructed in her backyard, then release them to their “families” at night. Her newest book, When Mountain Lions are Neighbors: People and Wildlife Working It Out In California, was published in August of 2016.
Beth will speak about what it means to coexist with wildlife, and how a lonely Los Angeles cougar inspired the world. The Griffith Park mountain lion P-22 will also make an appearance – don’t miss out on the chance to take a selfie with the world’s most famous cougar!
Doors open at 7pm, with the talk following at 7:30pm. After the presentation, stick around to socialize and enjoy Greenbar Distillery’s signature cocktails.
Greenbar Distillery is located at 2459 E 8th St, Los Angeles, CA 90021. Park across the street in the small lot, or on the street. Or even better, use Uber or Lyft!
